ROCKO'S RANDOMNESS FEBRUARY 3RD 2008 The anniversary episode of the show today prevented much of our regular wrestling breakdowns from being discussed so what better time to revive Rockos Randomness as I give my opinions on the good bad and ugly of the week in the world of pro wrestling. First up was the hot topic of the week, that being the return of John Cena to WWE TV, not only retruning but also winning the Royal Rumble. Quite frankly I cant count how many people came up to me, called me, or instant messaged me bitching about John Cenas immediate return to the top of the WWE. John Cena officially has the HHH stigma on him now as fans popped like crazy when he walked out into MSG but when they realized it was all going back to John Cena Wins Everything predictability then they started to boo and it continued into Monday. But I for one was happy to see John Cena back, specifically I loved how he returned. Prior to the Royal Rumble we had spoken of a potential Wrestlemania return for Cena, Meanwhile in interviews Cena was making it look like it would be the summer when he returned. The fans all bought it, and I at the very least bough the fact that he would return around Wrestlemania as originally projected. Nowadays the major problem with WWE programming, specifically the PPVs have been the predictability factor, We all thought HHH or Taker was walking out with the rumble win, but when Cenas music hit, I marked out, cause for once we were ALL swerved and worked in unison by the WWE and John Cena. I marked out hard when the music hit because it was then I realized that fact and made me appreciate the finish so much more. It also helps that ive never been a major hater of John Cena. Obviously his run with the title made for major predictability and boring finishes to PPVs but I understood why he was there, after all he was always the top solo merch seller in the company at the time, plus he was super over with all the females in the crowd, so business wise it made sense, and although Cena would be booed, it created such a unique situation that Ive never seen before. In other happenings this week, the WWE has decided to enforce a policy that had been announced before, but if you had not heard of it, At their live events the WWE have their security staff specifically search out fans who bring cell phones that have integrated cameras to their live events, specifically their television show. At the Rumble on Sunday, Security was ejecting fans from MSG because of cell phone cam possession. Apparently the WWE wants to prevent fans from getting photos and videos sent out to the internet, However Digital Cameras are still allowed in the building. Well Newsflash WWE, Almost all Cell phones have cameras nowadays, so your paying fan base would all have to be alienated for you to truly enforce this, but beyond that, Digital Cameras nowadays can not only take photos, but videos as well, and can easily be uploaded to the internet as well. Sure there is a slight delay as they need to arrive home and load it into their computers but I dont recall many instances of ongoing live photos from an event being featured on a website. Go on you tube youll see many videos from WWE events, the only way your going to ever stop this WWE, is to have a worked crowd and no ticket sales. Good Luck. In a TNA piece of news, The masked manager of Amazing Kong is independent star Melissa Anderson AKA Cheerleader Melissa, And I am extremely happy to hear that Melissa is finally getting a chance to be in the big leagues, Hopefully she eventually gets a chance to be her normal character and a in ring knockout as she is a super talented individual who has impressed me countless times when watching her matches. There is also news this week that Spike TV is considering a knockouts only secondary program for TNA so i hope that comes true and allows more talent like Melissa to be given a spotlight on national television. Anyways thats pretty much it for this week, Its Super Bowl Sunday after all, and im on my way out to watch the big game, For those wondering, I expect the Pats to win, although the Giants will give them a run for the their money much like they did in their meeting in the regular season. If I had to choose a team to root for I guess ill go with the Pats as they beat my Jaguars and id like to say we were beat by the best. Next week well be back to business as TNA presents Against All Odds, and all our regularly scheduled Main Event fun will be featured live on air.
